Cattle from Bor to Lobonok and beyond
Cattle being transported from Bor to Kurki near Lobonok
Environment is very important in our lifetime and for future generations. But although the effects are surely knocking at our front doors, our leaders especially in Southern Sudan have no clue about climate changes. Fertile farming areas are disappearing, areas are being flooded to a level that has never been seen before. But instead of putting forward plans to cub this serious enemy, they are either unknowingly or knowingly exercising ignorance over it.
Logging of tree has become a very lucrative business for those who are supposed to prevent climate change by planting trees. Areas around Loka, Kajokeji and Yei which used to be sources of food for South Sudan are losing their trees in millions every month.
Month.
Besides cutting down trees, mass migration is taking place. Hundreds of families especially from Jonglei have recently extended their areas of occupation from Eastern Equatoria to Western Equatoria. Few months ago, Kajokeji was the center of this movement as well armed invaders did not only come to occupy the land, but also looted house and churches, raped women, killed people and committed atrocities.
Many people will want to ask why did the newcomers leave their areas and where did they get their weapons, who armed them? Well, there seem to be long term goals to occupy areas near foreign borders and fleeing from their arch enemies the murule who do not only capture and take young children to add their population, and flooding of the area. But not all the families left Jonglei, only the family of soldiers who have access to guns and managed to raid cattle from the poorly armed families and immediately transported them to Equatoria by
vehicles.
