KK selp help project

It is self-explanatory that self-help projects accelerate the pace of developing the concerned area such that the people themselves assert their economic, social, and cultural conditions. This project will be remembered as a driving force that has certainly brought us together as one people regardless of being affiliated to other bodies. Hopefully this model can be copied by other communities for a common good and peace of mind. For our young generation especially those aiming at holding high positions, self-help projects are very important intervention strategies for social alleviation of poverty, income generation and provision. These days many communities especially in East Africa have progressed through such endeavors and we are joining that group. The late first president of Kenya Mzee Jomo Kenyatta will ever be remembered with ‘Harambee’. In most developed part of Uganda i.e., Buganda was developed because of ‘Bulungi bwa nsi’ beauty of country. These are self help roads that lead to schools, trading centers, clinics etc.

The Kuku in Bugerere lifted themselves to another level of being traders to recon with and gradually taking over Busaana, because of corporative societies. Personally, I am overjoyed to participate in this project because of ‘Sumuni’ that I received from the Chief of chiefs Gombolopla many years back for participating in self-help project at early age. In Bamunanika we lived near ‘lubiiri’ which is King’s residence and a revered residence. Between our home and Lubiiri, there was a broken-down lorry were the kids spent days twisting the steering imitating driving a full-time job for kids. One day however, the chief wanted a path to ‘Naikonto’ or tangi, or Donkey as it is known in Juba. I helped carrying a small stone which pleased the Chief who gave me a sumuni a ‘taripa’ or dime that I remember up to date.

It is very gratifying that the kuku came together including necks as well to be counted. Besides it is on voluntary basis, and no one is being forced, or to be denied using it. Even the rich owners of movable properties will be welcomed to use it even without opening their ears, mouths, and eyes. I am bringing my reward of sumuni and the chief, because in other communities their elders get recognition and respect by their subjects in participation to, communal activities. There is a local saying that, a male tattle is recognized by its balls, I hope I am right. When late president of Tanzania Dr. Magafuli, passed the basket around in the church, the contribution was great. This is just a kengere.

All in all, I am proud of those who will benefit the least by using this road but have stood to be counted. Please offer your heart to this project because the future is unpredictable as Salisok said.

NB.

I hope that the list of contributors will be kept in the database that later can be revisited in future when crosschecking resumes for community service openings or representation.
